I am flying first class on US Airways from Buffalo, NY to Ft Myers, FL and have never been in first class before. Does anyone know if US Airways has small televisions at each seat? Is the food decent? I am also traveling with a 10 mo. old. Will there be enough room for the two of us with her on my lap (I would rather not buy an extra seat, especially at first class prices)?

There's no non-stop on this route, so you will have fly two segments each way, on 2 of these planes: Airbuses A319, A321 and Boeing 737-300 or 737-400. There are no individual screens for first class (or economy) on any of those 4 planes, but on the A319/321 and some 737s, there are video screens that drop down from the ceiling. And make sure they don't put you on a regional jet on any of the legs, as there are no first class seats on those planes.

First class may have meal service, but I wouldn't count on it. You'll get a snack at best. US carriers have cut WAY back on food.

Rkkwan is right about the regional jets. You may have a first class ticket but all flights on RJs are coach class only.

As for TVs, those are only on the USAirways 330s and 767s, I believe. (Maybe the 757s too but never been on one of those!)

A lap child on an airplane is the worst thing in the world.

The Pilots Assc, FAs Assc, American Medical Association, American Association of Pediatrians, etc as well as many more professional associations all recommend you buy your child a seat.

I know it is cliche, but they make you secure your luggage. Why wouldn't you want to secure your child?

Agree that you should buy your child a seat and use an airline approved child seat. Flying without one is the equivalent of driving with your baby sitting in your lap. In case of any sort of accident or incident (even a relatively minor one) your child would not have a chance.

Let's not go down this route please... If I thought an extra seat was necessary, I'd buy one.

Have you ever read the seat back card about what to do with a lap child in case of a crash landing? That is bone chilling.

Please understand, I am in no way questioning your parenting. It is just that since the airlines don't mandate a seat for a lapchild, some people take it as meaning you do not need a seat for your child.

Well, I was able to get a second seat for my daughter in coach after all. It turns out that I am traveling in off peak season and it only costs 20,000 miles for a R/T ticket.
