Uptown eating
wanting to get out of the theatre district after seeing a show, 7 of us [including 4 young ladies] have nearly decided on eating at Coppola's on 79th st., if we can get a thumbs up from any at this forum that has been there..... the menu sounds great.....thanks!

Don't know it but Zagat gives it a decent rating for food. They say it's crowded & noisy though. Pomodoro is another Italian option & is not so far uptown (Columbus & 70-71). It gets slightly higher food rating from Zagat but doesn't take reservations & is near Lincoln Center. Ruby Foos for Chinese/Japanese is also a good choice for a large with kids. They have 2 locations-theater district & UWS.

Try Nice Matin across the street from Coppolas on 79th St. - terrific french mediterranean - but also fantastic french fries and a great burger - make a reservation - very family friendly, lively NY scene . . . check out the menu at www.menupages.com
For a bit more more upscale experience Cesca on West 75th St. has delicious Italian food. Or La Grolla - Amsterdam and 79th st.

A very popular Italian restaurant is Gennaro - Amsterdam, between 92nd and 93rd. Always crowded with locals so expect a wait if you decide to try this place. No reservations, no credit cards and the minimum is either $!5 or $20.
