My family and I have been to both and we enjoyed Universal Studios in Orlando better. It's more spread out, absorbs the crowds better and captures the feel of a backlot studio better then Universal CA. Yes, Universal Orlando has more rides especially since they opened the new Islands Of Adventure.

The one thing we saw at Universal in California that we didn't see in Florida was the Backdraft Experience. If they still have that, it's definitely worth going. Also we saw Steven Spielberg, who was just walking through the park, but he walked by too quickly for us to react and get him to stop. If you go there, watch for him. The lady at the gate said you can see him around there a lot.

I am a 'local' of L.A., and have been to Universal Hollywood many times. If you've been to the one in Orlando, you can pretty much skip the one in Hollywood. If you are on a trip to Southren California, however, don't skip it because there is not much to do for tourists around here. If you are on a planned trip, also see Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Disneyland in Anihem, and ifor roller-coaster lovers, Six Flags Magic Mountain.
