Universal Luau - Roy Pacific

Has anyone been to the Luau at the Royal Pacific Hotel? Is the food and the show worth the $50 per person (including Mai-Tai's )?
Also, anyone highly recommend any of the other restaurants in the Portofino and Hard Rock?

We'll be staying at Portofino for my daughter's 8th bday. So the dinners are sort of geared towards her interest, which incidently are more a good steak than chicken fingers and pizza. But still want the dinners to be fun.

Mama Della's or Trattoria?

Thanks.

We are going to The Royal Pacific Hotel in June, last year we stayed at the Hard Rock. We only had snacks there as we ate at the parks (kids didn't want to miss a trick) and at the Hard Rock Cafe-outside the parks.

I just wanted to say that I believe the Lauau (sp.?) are on the weekend. We are staying Monday thru Wednesday so we will miss it.

I've never heard anyone rave about the luau. One of our favorite restaurants is right in Islands of Adventure---Mythos. Wonderful atmospher, great food and service. There are also MANY restaurants at City Walk.
Here are a couple links to menus at Universal:

Thanks, I am definitely making res. for Mythos for lunch the day we are in Islands but not sure about the other two nights. Bday lands on a Friday so trying to get something she'll really enjoy.

I don't know your daughter's interests, but children seem to like the Hard Rock Cafe.
Tchoup CHop is wonderful. You need to make reservatons in advance for that and can do so on opentable.com

The Hard Rock is VERY noisy. I went with a group and we could not hear each other talk.
