Universal hotel options
Just booked 4 days in April at Royal Pacific, my question is this...can you use the pool/facilities at Hard Rock and the Portofino if you are staying at the RP? Thanks in advance for any info.

Yes. If you stay at one of the on site Universal hotels, you have pool privileges at all of them. YOu will love the Royal Pacific and Universal. Staying on site gives you express access to the attractions. Just show your room key and go right in the express line. It's the best perk ever. For everything you ever want to know about Universal, go to www.usoinfo.com and www.disboards.com and scroll to the Universal forums.

Thanks for your response. How far are the hotels from each other? We are not actually going to the parks but, just looking forward to hanging at the pool(s). We are trying to get reservations at Discovery Cove. any tips on restaurants, either at the hotels or CityWalk?

Hard Rock Hotel is closest to Universal park and the Royal Pacific is about a 10 minute walk from the park. I think the Portofino is the furthest away. All of the hotels offer a "water taxi" to take you between hotels, or to the parks. Restaurants are abundant, either at the hotels or at City Walk. City Walk offers Margaritaville, Emerils, Hard Rock Cafe, Nascar Cafe, etc. Royal Pacific has Tchoup Chop, the newest restaurant by Emeril Lagasse. Portofino Hotel has several higher end restaurants as well. In Islands of Adventure, Mythos is an outstanding choice for dinner, but you may need park passes to dine there, I'm not sure. Enjoy your trip.

I agree with Sherrie that Mythos in Islands of Adventure is an outstanding restaurant. Great atmosphere, service and food. You can actually eat there without a park ticket. Just go to guest services outside Islands of Adventure and get a "dining pass". They will take an imprint of your credit card. I think they give you two hours to have dinner and check out with Guest Services. If something happens at the restaurant to slow down your meal, they will call guest services. Also recommend Tchoup Chop in the Royal Pacific and Jake's in the Royal Pacific. We like the Latin Quarter in City Walk. Royal Pacific is about an eight minute walk to City Walk--another eight to the Hard Rock. Or you could take the Water Taxi from City Walk to any of the hotels--OR--there is a shittle bus between the hotels. Go to www.disboards.com and scroll down the Universal Forums for loads of info.
