I posted this question on the airlines forum and got a limited and split response. So, I'm also posting it here. Flying out of Denver, which airlines do you prefer--Frontier or United?

Why are you asking? I much prefer Frontier. United staff is usually snotty.

Last year I flew Frontier from Phila/Denver/Vegas and back. It was great. No delays, infact the plane arrived 20/30 minutes too early in Denver and had to wait to go over to a gate. Great service, on time and cheaper tkts than others through expedia.com. Prices have gone up a lot for that same time period this year. If you fly 1st class, there's no real 1st class section. It's just the front row of seats with everyone else. Luckily I never had a problem w/either, but liked the cute themes of Frontier's airplanes. If it's cheaper go for it.

LOVE Frontier and fly it whenever I can. Their fleet is newer and all planes have individual back of the seat TVs.

And maybe it's just me, but I've never been on a Frontier flight where the staff and crew wasn't anything but nice.

I used to be absolutely loyal to United but it's gotten to be twice as much as Frontier (SFO to DEN). Frontier is fine. Friendly, reliable and ontime. United also cancels too many flights or switches to smaller planes so you lose your seat assignment.

I usually fly United and have my miles with them. But both of these airlines are charging about the same price for the same schedule, so I was thinking about perhaps trying Frontier, since United has been cancelling flights lately.

Although I never have flown to Denver I gave up on United years ago..their employees were pleasant but a noon flight would be cancelled for example and everyone on that flight put on the 4:00pm flight..god forbid they would fly without a packed plane.

Anyway I have a friend who flies a lot to Denver and she always flies via Frontier and has often commented how, considering airlines in this day and age, Frontier is an acceptable airline. So going by my past experiences with United and my friends experiences with Frontier I would chose Frontier if given the choice jag.

we flew on Frontier - LAX to Denver - Denver to LGA - no issues. I was surprised that they charged for the TV in the seat back - around 6.00 for direct tv and 8.00 per movie.

The only reason we flew them was because we had a large amount of credit to use from a canceled trip from SNA to Denver.

Frontier, if it is non-stop.

Whichever is cheapest and quickest.
Last time I flew Frontier the plane was an old MD80, and their TSA agent emptied a quart of raspberry sauce all over my luggage--inside.
But if they are cheaper, I'd fly them again.

I just returned home from with United. Delayed in Memphis, rude in Denver and Aspen, plus late departure from Denver. I promise they could not get that LA flight out of the gate and more than once the gate agent said (paraphrasing) "would the people going to Vancouver just sit down and shut up???" They finally changed our gate after 90 minutes. If they had just posted the Vancouver flight she would not have been asked so many times "are we at the right gate".

I can't leave out the agent in Aspen that said I had to check in thru the auto system, my passport wouldn't scan, finally another agent comes over to help, types in my passport number and the machine was out of paper!

Last flight delayed due to lav issues, tried to repair couldn't and we were advise to go to the washroom before departure.

I do live in a state where you can't get there from here.

Flew to Denver in May on United. Absolutely no leg room. Choose Frontier in July. Loved it. Lots of leg room, personal TV, etc. They had some decent food to purchase for $3. One of the best perks is that when you depart from Denver you go through security in an area that is much less crowded AND arriving or departing you don't have to use the train because Frontier is in the A concourse. I've always flown United, but no more.

Yes, that security area is where the vandals that work for TSA/Frontier emptied the raspberry sauce in my bag.

The TSA agents do not work for any airline. And several airlines use Concourse A -- not just Frontier

I changed my credit card to Frontier for the miles - that's how much better I like it. United was the first to charge for exit rows. Frontier people seem more relaxed, nicer, planes seem cleaner. Just no comparison any longer! Check about the movies, though; you may only need to pay if you watch the movies, and you have a couple chances to decline viewing them.

Frontier (or United) have nothing to do with the TSA's check of bags. The guy who screens bags for Frontier on Tuesday may do it for American on Wednesday and Continental and Thursday. They are government employees.

I know they are government employees. They just must have had more time for nonsense on a non-busy time at Frontier. It was early on in the inspections--and it was nearby.

I don't know if it was just my experience, but the two times I've traveled on Frontier, it seemed the pilot was not very good, as the ride was very bumpy and landing stressful. Maybe I just got unlucky but I never plan to fly with them again.

Your are absolutely right. Pilots needd to be trained better to miss those potholes. They were probably playing with the stews and not watching the road.
