Union Square Hotel?

I will be in San Francisco One night and would like to stay in the Union Square Area.
Any suggestions for a hotel in the $100 range would be great.

Have you tried Priceline? That's an "expensive" area and I'm not sure you'll find a rack rate in the $100 range (at least not a decent hotel).

Good luck!

I've stayed in the Canterbury Hotel just blocks from Union Square - it's not bad. It should be in your price range.

Check out the Orchard Hotel. It's very near Union Square (2 blocks?) and is a very pleasant newish boutique place. I got a greatly reduced $119 rate on quikbook in 11/04. Not quite in your range, but pretty close. Good luck.

Using Priceline, I recently got the Grand Hyatt, which is a half block off Union Square for $70/night.

I have stayed at the Cartwright and the Andrews, both in Union Square and would stay at either of them again. I booked a "cozy double" at the Andrews on their website http://www.andrewshotel.com/index.html for $99 which included a continental breakfast, and the Cartwright (with evening wine reception) for under $100 on Quikbook. Neither are "fancy" but clean, safe, and the staff were very nice.

I would certainly try Priceline, just be sure to study the zone maps so you know where you are bidding. Take a look at betterbidding.com for help.

Try www.hotels.com. You can get lots of good suggestions and have all kinds of info and prices so you can compare on the spot.

I did that on a recent trip to SF on business and found the Adante Hotel just 3 blocks from Union Square. The room was very comfortable and well priced and there was a free breakfast with the room.

Have a great time in SF.

Try the Villa Florence. It is a nice boutique hotel.

Patty, the Villa Florence is a nice boutique hotel but I doubt you can get a room for $100.00. But it is part of the Kimpton Group so go on their website, you could always be in luck.

BTW, a few years ago I stayed at the Caterbury Hotel as I had friends from Italy who had made reservations through their TA in Italy stay there. We spent 2 nights, and I found it to be fine. Not plush, but would stay there again for the right price.
