Two tickets anywhere. Where to go?

We have two free airline tickets that we got thru an auction last night. The airline says we can go anywhere.

Where would you go?

Where are you flying from?
What time of year do you have available to travel?
What are your interests (cities, art, history, hiking, beaches, etc.)
Is it truly anywhere, or anywhere in the US? Does it exclude HI and AK?

I would use the tickets either to go visit family or go to Paris, but I don't know that you'd enjoy visiting my family nearly as much as I would.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've seen in last few days.

1. where are you located? What if the replies suggested Chicago and you live in Chicago? duhhh....

2. is this a purely domestic ticket, continental US only, Alaska & Hawaii included, international? what???

3. which airline?

4. you ask stupid question you get flamed... sorry! NOT

I'll bet these tickets are only for "domestic" US travel, maybe including Canada. Free flight to Hawaii and International destinations would be too good to be true!

But if so, you could always use these free tickets to fly to a closest major "hub" city to your desired destination and then just pay for a cheap flight from there to where you REALLY want to go...

If it were me (and I wish it were!) I'd think about my top travel destination wishes (New Zealand, Italy, Central and Eastern Europe, Scandanavia) and find out which one is the most expensive to fly to. Then, I'd use my tickets to go there. The way I figure it, even if it's expensive once I arrive, I didn't have the added cost of airfare

I'd double check and see if you can use it for international travel or just domestic flights and if there are any restrictions like blackout days before you get too excited.

Enjoy!!

I'm with AAFrequentFlyer. If you have to ask strangers, then I suggest you donate the tickets to Make A Wish Foundation for someone who already has a dream destination.

Your screen name says it all. You have to ask? I'm with Jean.

Ok, now people are getting ridiculous! What does the screen name "frenchtoile" have to do with anything? (It's a type of fabric.)

And I have a hard time believing that you've never struggled with deciding where to go next.

I agree the question is asked poorly, and both AAFrequentFlyer and myself listed the info that would help us help frenchtoile. But it's not a bad question in and of itself - just poorly constructed.

If these tickets are truly for anywhere, I would go to the furthest away place from your home that you have an interest in visiting.

ditto to what suze and OWJ said.

I would go to the furthest destination that I had an interest in seeing.

For me that would be Egypt.

Like I said we can fly to any destination that we choose. In or out of the US. Anywhere. Does that clear it up?

the only thing is we have to pay for where we visit. The tickets are the only free item.

I would go to Maui - (1) snorkel Molokini and (2) make sure to have resesrvations for dinner during the sunset time at Pacifico with "the love of my life" (hubby) and take in all of the beauty of Hawaii! Aloha

If Australia and/or NZ are of interest to you, those would, no doubt, be tickets that would normally be rather expensive, and therefore a good use of your free tkts--same for Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, or China or Japan, if those strike your fancy.....

frenchtoile - Your response only clears one thing up. As AAFrequentFlyer said. If we told you to go to Chicago, and you already live there, it would be a waste of your time and ours.

Or, if we told you to go backpacking in the Rockies and you said I'd really like a more urban trip, again, a waste.

So how about helping us out here with some more specifics, if you really want useful advice.

I would love to do China. But, I am so scared to do it alone since we don't know the language.

Egypt sounds great.

obv. going anywhere in Europe would be fabulous. But like I said I want to make this ticket pay off!

Why not try posting on the Asia board for some feedback from those who have travelled there. Also you could look in some guidebooks. I bet you will find that China would be quite manageable even if you only speak English....
