Two San Francisco restaurants

Here are two restaurants where I ate recently. The food is excellent but pricey in both cases:

La Mar Cocina Peruana https://www.lamarsf.com/la-mar/ is the easiest to get to as it is right on the Embarcadero just north of the Ferry Building. Seafood is their xpecialty. The empanadas are a must, three of us shared the sampler of the lunch menu. I liked the Arroz con Mariscos and the shared Choco Maracuya is amazing.

The second one is 7 Adams located near Japantown.

Here's the menu:
It's haute cuisine although dress is casual. The dishes are small, as if it were a tasting menu and some elements were a little precious, but we did not leave the table hungry; age may be a factor here. It is prix fixe to the point that a service fee of 20% is automatically added to the bill. Reservations are essential. Their previous restaurant had a Michelin star.

For the second year in a row, we did a holiday/birthday (splurge) dinner in the beautiful Wine Vault at Boulevard. We were ages 14-81, from NJ, East Bay, SF, and LA, and all agreed it was, once again, great fun with great food. We each selected a three-course meal from the current menu (and the 17 year old didn’t ask this time about adding the caviar!) and we had good guidance from John, the sommelier. I’m on the lookout for an attractive private room, accommodating ten of us, convenient for the East Bay folks, with great food which even our ‘steak-frites, please’ youngest member will enjoy. So far, it seems we may make our way back to Boulevard again next year.

We were not impressed by La Mar's food. It's a beautiful place with great views, and like other places in SF you get either food or view.

Want to try something exotic? Try Dacha on Sutter at Larkin.
