Drive to Charleston SC & Asheville NC from Orlando

My husband and I (75) are driving up from Orlando on our way back home to Nashville. Looking for historic inn to stay in Charleston and Asheville. Interested in seeing historic sites along the way.

You could stop off at Fernandina Beach, FL on Amelia Island which has 50 blocks of historic buildings housing restaurants, bed ‘n’ breakfasts, and boutique shops. Check out the cozy Book Loft, a famous independent bookstore (it has 1,500 rare books). Ft. Clinch State Park features serene beaches and six miles of natural surface trails for hiking and mt. biking. Also, you could stop at Georgetown, SC which has American Colonial buildings dating from the 1700s and the 1811 Gerogetown Lighthouse. In Tennesse you could view Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. Located in Fall Creek Falls State Park, east of Spencer.

LOts to choose from in Charleston--Meeting Street Inn overlooking the Battery would be one. I think I saw that the Vendue has maybe changed names and been renovated
Jn Asheville the Grove Park is special. Or the Biltmore Estate.

100% agree with the Meeting Street Inn -- last stayed there several years ago but can't imagine it has gone down hill. Lovely property in a great location about a 90 second walk from the Market and walkable for the whole historic district
