Ginny, You were part of the worst attack in the history of this country. No one knew where it would stop or what would happen next. For all we knew, more planes were headed to Manhattan. You went through a horrendous time and should be proud of yourself. You have absolutely nothing to be embarassed about.

Thanks Arabella and thanks to everyone else who helped me out on that day. We should let this die now as I do think those that have been impacted by loss might get upset at seeing this. The friend I spoke of has starting writing sympathy cards but does not know where to buy them in bulk.

Ginny, I think those who received losses of friends would be heartened to see the genuine concern of those on this web site, as it was happening.
I would want to know that people really cared about what was happening, and this shows it in a timely fashion.
You went through alot in those moments, and we felt it with you in our hearts.

Thanks for reviving that post. It is healthy to not forget how that morning unfolded. Amazing how much more mature we are as a country 6 months later.

I stumbled onto this thread and when I saw the heading "two planes crash into WTC" I began reading the posts and saw the 9/11 date on them. My skin began to crawl as I read one post after another. I was taken back to that horrible day and felt like I was reading the posts live. It was very emotional. As my husband and I watched the day unfold on TV, like many Americans, we cried at the site of the planes hitting the towers, the terrified people running away from the towers, the heartbroken family members pleas for help in finding their missing loved ones. As I read these posts it all came back to me. I saw how terrified people who were posting on this site that day were. I felt their sadness about the events and concern for the people who were regular visitors to this site who they had not heard from and were worried for their safety. I had to keep reading to find out if and how Ginny got home safely, if Leone and Lisa were safe. Ginny I know you're embarrased about it now but please don't be. I never once thought that what you were saying was foolish or something to be embarrassed about. No one should ever forget what people felt like that day. You helped me to remember. Yes we should put it behind us and go on with our lives but we should never forget.

In his book, "John Adams," McCullough talks about "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." He says that the framers of the constitution put those in that order purposely, to note that life (security) comes before liberty (individual freedom), because without life there is no liberty. Full security cannot exist with full freedom.

Ginny, I thought I'd let you know (if you are still around) that it was your post that alerted me to the events. I will never forget sitting at the computer on the Fodors' site, reading your post, and running to the TV.

I also think we should remember how frighten we were on that day. We should remember every time we see civilians being attacked by suicide bombers and by governments bent only on their own survival. Never forget your own fear and use it to understand the fear of others. I always remember how for days and weeks following the attack my personal reality was shaken. I had irrational fears about our future as a country and my own personal safety. I thought about the people that perished at the WTC every single day. …every sunset every cloudless sunny day in New York City, I thought they are not seeing this. This went on for a few months.

Now I try to think of the people that have to live the reality we faced on September 11 on a regular basis. I think about Israelis who don’t know if they will kiss their daughters good-bye forever as they leave for a Sunday outing at the mall or a Palestinian who might loose their child in a classroom through tank fire at the hands of the Israeli government. I could say more about the faith I have lost in the American media for me this was a huge casualty in all of this but that is for each of you to judge on your own.

Still greatful that you were all there to talk to on that horrible day.

P.S My friend had a beautiful boy who we all agree is super baby to survive that five mile walk to my office with his mommy just 3 weeks before his birth.

WOW! I found this thread by accident and was captivated. I too had all the feelings of 9/11 come rushing back. I sat here reading the entire thread and had tears my eyes, goosebumps, and a sick stomach. Ginny, you are a brave person and should in no way feel ashamed of your original posts. The support of people on this thread on 9/11 is incredible! Like you, on the computer and listening to radio, I was in touch with friends from all over the USA through MSN that morning while it was all happening. I am from Boston and friends were concerned as Boston was shut down also. I originally came to this board to talk about my 1st trip to NYC this past weekend. I had planned to talk details of my trip but changed my mind. Resteraunts and hotels dont seem to fit with the tone of this thread. I will just say my 1st experience in NYC was wonderful. I would go back in a heartbeat. NYC is truly a brave and wonderful city full of life and character. I'm glad you're all back in business and walking with a new sureness and courage in your step. For the others readng this thread....GO and VISIT, SPEND YOUR MONEY! NYC is safe, friendly, and awe inspiring.

Ginny, I just saw this post for the first time today and read it with a great deal of interest. Your posts, your concerns and your insight into the day gave me a much needed perspective on what happened. I am far away from New York, but you made me feel like I was right there. I, too, agree that this post should be preserved. It is a part of history. Thank you for starting this. I'm glad that you are fine and hope that you will continue to be so for many years to come.

i read this thread for the first time today ,its good that they left it on
i am in the uk,when the tradgedy happened we where in our bank managers office,someone burst in with a report off the internet ,we originally thought it was a hoax.when we came out it was on the tv in the bank we stayed there and watched(along with hundreds of others)for five hours.
i cannot imagine the pain america and her people must feel.
please know are thoughts and prayers are with you all.
we are due to visit hawaii on vacation this fall,we will continue to do so as we belive we must continue to travel especially to the usa,to show our support and help support america's economy.months later it is now difficult to know what we can do to support the victims of these events any suggestions on how to do this would be welcome

We were at WTC this past weekend, and were surprised you had to have tickets to walk onto the observation platform. Fortunately a nice policeman had two extra. The lights are great, and visible from all over - particularly nice from the Village. NYC is very special - don't miss seeing WTC if you get the chance. And sign the wall while you're there - you'll see what I mean. An easy way to approach by foot is down Broadway, or by taxi, via the FDR expressway.

It's almost a year since this horrible tragedy and reading this thread brings me to tears. I will never forget the innocent souls that were taken from us. I feel for the families that will never be the same again.
I watch the news and see the bombing and murder of innocent students, employees, fathers, mothers, children, husband and wives. I can't help but to grieve for them. Their lives mean something, their souls are special and they are missed.
I just do not understand why people hurt each other.
I am sorry for being naive. But, I cannot comprehend this madness.

I stumbled onto this thread tonight and felt compelled to read all the posts, especially Ginny's. They are a wonderful record of the thoughts and emotions of people from all over the world on that horrible day. Ginny, you lived first-hand what I watched in horror from a distance. I'm glad you made it out, and I admire your strength and courage. Hopefully there are 280 million of us just like you! Thanks to all our great friends from around the world who have supported us, and may God continue to bless the USA!

I think it was shameful to bring this to the top of the list. It makes it look like it is something that just happened until you notice the date. Can't you be more thoughtful when you post a message?
