Two full days in NYC

We will arrive in the city around 8-9pm on a Thursday and will most likely be headed back to the MacArthur Airport by 11am on Sunday. This gives us Friday and Saturday, with an 8pm date with The Producers on Saturday night. This is my plan so far. Any thoughts? Let me say we have visited NYC several times and realize we can only do a few things in such a short period of time.

Friday March 19

(need a morning activity-maybe Good Morning America in Times Square for touristy stuff)
subway to Brooklyn lunchtime
Grimaldi's
Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory
Jacques Torres (gifts for mom!)
walk back across the bridge (yikes!)
Chinatown
subway back to Metropolitan for evening museum visit
Dinner?????

Saturday March 20

Fleamarkets in Chelsea area
Visit WTC site and St. Paul's Church
NEED AFTERNOON STUFF
Pre theater dinner (suggestions??)
The Producers (purpose of trip!!)

Sunday March 21

Hopefully make Columbus Street fleamarket before we have to head to Long Island

You've created a good eclectic two-day itinerary.
Why type of activity are you looking for on Saturday afternoon? Museum? Outdoor? What?
And, as for a pre-theater restaurant, how about idea on price and type(s) of food?

I like you itinerary! I don't know what type of things you enjoy, but what about tea at Lady Mendel's (56 Irving Place, near 17th Street) or Big Onion's walking tour of TriBeCa that starts at 1:00 on Saturday? (http://www.bigonion.com) Or, you could always go to a few galleries, stop for lunch, hit a few more and then stop for a great dessert and a coffee.

Morgan Library? Although the Garden Court is closed for renovations which is too bad because it is a neat place for lunch. How about The Frick Collection? If you go to the Frick be sure to use the Audio Guide, it's very helpful.

Thanks for the feedback. I love the idea of the walking tour-sounds fun and I will check out the web site. We prefer outdoors or strolling neighborhoods with the occasional pop in unusual stores/boutiques (that's if the March weather cooperates!!).

With regard to dinner, price isn't a huge issue but we prefer something a bit less pretentious if you know what I mean (nothing too foo-foo before the show). Food--we love italian, asian, mexican (but better in Dallas-home), continental, just about anything. We know that Carmine's is a zoo and we will have just had pizza in the afternoon. Of course, one cannot have too much italian or chinese while in New York because our options here are, well....ick!!

If you're willing to spend $50-60 a person (including drinks), then try Orso or Lattanzi on West 46th Street. Both are excellent Italian.
