Two Chicks Traveling to SoBe - Advice Requested
A friend of mine and I will be traveling to Miami Beach in January and I had a few questions. She has never been to South Beach, I have been there once on business. I want to make sure we are properly attired in the evening when we go out. Seems like last time I was there (in winter) people were running around in long pants and shirts. Can anyone give any tips on proper dress in Miami Beach? I need to give her some advice as she packs her bags. Also, are there fun places to go for some nightlife? We are 35 and 46 respectively (but appear 30 and 35). Last time I was there everything seemed pretty young. Where can two "old ladies" go? We're just looking for a place with nice ambience. I was thinking of the Delano. Any suggestions?

SoBe is definitely young and hip...But you still should have a great time..
Delano is a fabulous place to stay...
At nite, in the clubs, people are dressed very hip and scantily clad...think young...
If just going out to dinner, a casual pair of slax and top will be fine..or even a nice sundress....

The Delano is a great place to stay, and even a great place to stop into for a drink.
Another cool night spot is Nikki Beach which is way down Ocean Drive. It's on the sand with huge teepees and tiki torches.
Lincoln Road is also a good place to stroll in the evening.
Clothing? I'd skip the sun dress someone else mentioned (way too conservative). To fit in to the SoBe scene, you'll have to be a bit daring - bare midrift, tight pants, revealing tops.

Had to chime in....
Another place to look for the 411 on South Beach:
http://www.southbeach-usa.com
The SkyBar at the Shore Club has name recognition from the LA club, so it might be worth a visit after the Rose Bar at the Delano. For stylish fine dining, check out Wish at The Hotel. And you know about Nikki Beach. The abovementioned website will give you more info about the club scene, as well as some hints as to what people wear. Have a great trip!!
