TSA says don't lock you luggage
The TSA is asking people not to lock their checked luggage in case it flagged for additional screening.
In cases where suspect luggage is locked, "we'll open it," said TSA Spokesman Brian Turmail. If, in doing so, the bag is damaged, "we are not liable," he said.
Don't pack any valuables in your checked luggage unless you never want to see them again.

I think I have a solution for you, Justine. Hide the key on the bottom of the suitcase somewhere maybe you can tape it to the bottom side or you can slip it into a fold of the leather on handle. When you checjk you bags tell the gate agent to tell TSA where the key is.

Just use those little luggage locks with keys (not a combination). Most people use them just to hold their zipper pulls together. And, they ALL have the SAME key. Security has a variety of keys they use to access the contents if need be.
Otherwise, just use twist ties to hold your zipper pulls together.
