Truly American - Have you ever ....
I recently heard a Charlie Daniels song, about what a great country this is, and things that you can only do here. Here's my list. (I haven't done 'em all). What are yours?
Have you ever
crossed the Mighty Mac bridge
eaten a fish boil in Door County, WI
seen the faces on Mount Rushmore
been to the Grand Ole Opry
attended the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
been to a county fair
been to a state fair
gone to the Indianapolis 500
gone to the Daytona 500
been to a presidential library
seen the Boston Pops on 4th of July
taken a brewery tour in Milwaukee
been on an airboat ride
ridden on a dog driven sled
smelled Savannah, GA
seen the steel mills in the Calumet Region
been to a Red Sox game at Fenway
seen the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
gone to the San Antonio RiverWalk
been to the southernmost point in the US, 90 miles from Cuba
driven on the sand at Daytona Beach
gone ice skating on a frozen pond
cut down your own Christmas tree
carved a pumpkin
eaten chicken fried steak anywhere in Texas
attended a high school homecoming football game
seen the sunset at Mallory Square in Key West
seen the statue of Chief Blackhawk
been to the observation deck of the Sears Tower
ridden a wooden roller coaster
eaten lobster at a lobster shanty in Maine

Hmm... I've done 15 on your list! I can add a few more:
Taken a boat through downtown Chicago on the river with a cold drink in my hand on a hot summer day.
Spent lazy summer days basking in the sun on Lake Geneva.
Driven in Minneapolis in an ice storm with -70 windchill.
Sipped wine in Napa Valley.
Sipped many a brew at Wrigley Field. And Fenway. And the old County Stadium. And Shea Stadium. And Busch Stadium. And Comiskey Park. And Soldier Field.
Walked the Freedom Trail.
Lost money in Vegas.
Won money in Vegas.
Rolled the dice at Ho-Chunk.
Ate at supper clubs in the northwoods of Wisconsin.
Got stranded in a snow storm in Elkton, SD.
Stayed on the Queen Mary.
Took an Amtrak for a 3-day ride through the Rockies from Chicago to L.A.

Great thread!
From the original list. . .I have eaten a DC fish boil, been to Opry (for a hair cut, but that counts, right?), been to a county fair, been to a presidential library, seen the unknown soldier tomb, cut down my own Christmas tree, carved a pumpkin, eaten a chicken fried steak, attended homecoming football game, been to Sears Tower ob deck, rode the biggest wooden roller coaster (the Beast), and watched (not rode) a San Fran cable car. Are we related???
From others lists: I have taken a boat tour in Chicago, sipped wine in Napa, sipped a brew at Wrigley and the Cell, walked near the Golden Gate, stood atop the Eiffel tower, played spin the bottle and was awestruck by the Grand Canyon.
I add the following:
Have you ever
-Seen a fishy with his hands in his pockets and his pockets in his pants? (Sry, had to ask)
-
-Been flipped off by a NY driver?
-Taken a Seattle ferry ride?
-Canoed to Canada from the American boundary waters?
-Walked to Tijuana from the American border?
-Hit more than 5 bars in one night in Appleton, WI?
-Watched 4th of July fireworks from a Florida beach?
-Applauded during a plane landing?
-Eaten at Crane's Pie Pantry?
-Ridden the South Shore Train?
-Seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show with live actors?
-Hiked near the New River Gorge?
-Shopped at IKEA?
-Dipped your french fries in your milk shake?
-Met your favorite rock artist?
-Met Mickey Mouse?
-Gone GeoCaching?
This is fun!! E-mail [email protected] with replies.

Had cocktails at Windows on the World, top of the twin towers Trade Center. Sat in a window seat and was in awe of New York City in 1981. So glad I got to do it. Still have the match box in my collection. An especially priceless American experience.
