Subscribe to the president's club newsletter from the Fairmont. They have once a month sales that often discount DC by a half.
I don't know if you would get a credit card because of the perks, but if you enroll with the Hyatt Visa ($75 a night) you get two nights anywhere in the world no black out nights.

I travel with a family member every year the week after Mother's Day for a National Association of Realtors' conference. They take up lots of hotel rooms. That week also coincides with a huge graduation from George Washington U (Ithink). Those folks take up a lot of hotel rooms. There are hordes of school children everywhere. In the seven years I've been going, I've experienced every type of weather except for snow! It has ranged from the low 60's to the mid-nineties and humid.........I can't wait to go back!
