trip to caves in Virginia

we would like to take a short weekend trip from Baltimore to view caves in
Virginia. Where should we go? Also, with young children and old me, we would like it not to be too strenuous.

You would probably enjoy a visit to Luray Caverns. It's a "show cave" which is accessible to people of all ages. It's close to Shenandoah National Park, so you could include a stop there as well. In fact, you could even overnight at either Skyland Lodge or Big Meadow Lodge--both have a lot to offer.

Check with AAA auto club and pickup a tour book on Virginia.
Luray Caverns is spectacular you would need a jacket, you're going undergound. This cave started me on my quest to explore some of the caves in the US.

There are two about five miles from New Market off I-81.

Shenandoah Caverns is about five miles north of New Market on the west side of I-81. Also on or near the property is the Yellow Barn where floats from past presidential inaugural parades are on display, plus floats from Rose Bowl and Thanksgiving Day parades.

Just up the road, three minutes away, is the Route 11 Potato Chip Factory where you can sample chips and watch the chips being made.

South of New Market, on the east side of I-81, on route eleven is Endless Caverns. Google both for further info.
