You would probably enjoy a visit to Luray Caverns. It's a "show cave" which is accessible to people of all ages. It's close to Shenandoah National Park, so you could include a stop there as well. In fact, you could even overnight at either Skyland Lodge or Big Meadow Lodge--both have a lot to offer.

There are two about five miles from New Market off I-81.
Shenandoah Caverns is about five miles north of New Market on the west side of I-81. Also on or near the property is the Yellow Barn where floats from past presidential inaugural parades are on display, plus floats from Rose Bowl and Thanksgiving Day parades.
Just up the road, three minutes away, is the Route 11 Potato Chip Factory where you can sample chips and watch the chips being made.
South of New Market, on the east side of I-81, on route eleven is Endless Caverns. Google both for further info.
