Clousie~ The Market does not close up until about 5:30-6:00pm so a Friday afternoon should be OK.
Check ahead about getting into the Smith Tower observation deck. It has limited times and days that it is open to the public.
Coming in from Bainbridge ferry you could park somewhere under the viaduct which runs along the waterfront at that part of town. Try for somewhere in the middle, spliting the distance so you'd be walking south a few blocks to Pioneer Square or north a few blocks to Pike Place Market.

Enzian, thanks for the Smith Tower information. That was really interesting. We saw a wonderful Chihuly exhibition at the Fairchild Botanical Gardens in Miami last month. I would have loved to see that chandelier!
