P.S those prostitutes are all over the city where ever there is a willing John they will be staying for the evening. You do see them more in budget accomadation off the main strip.

What I don't understand is the hands off policy of the Honolulu police. If I know they are hookers and anyone standing neaby know they are hookers why aren't they hauled into jail...I would not want to take a family to Honolulu in that environment.

Hi Sarah,

I can't comment on why the police are not doing anything about the prostitutes. But as a tourist, when I see something like that, I get turned off. Since it's my vacation, I don't want expose myself to something I do not agree with. And you're right, they are very straight forward, especially if you're a guy and you're walking by yourself or with your other guy friends. They dress very revealing as well. I can understand that its hard to make a living out there. However, I do know that there are other ways of making a decent living. I don't understand why people would do such things to themselves. Most of these girls are so beautiful that they can be models. I guess everyone's trying to find the easy way out in life.

Oh and by the way, they're not at all ashamed of what they do. I've seen this strip club right on the strip of Kuhio's Ave., the girls with their tiny outfits standing right out the balcony. Come on, who are we fooling? We all know it's not just a strip club. I've also seen a transaction made between a john and a hooker right in front of the arcade. After they shook hands, she went into a cab and he went in with her. They're so up front but still, nothing's being done about it or maybe the police just don't care.

When I read your trip report yesterday I imagined you were young and very different from me. Your grammar was poor in your report, eg "me and my boyfriend" and "I had went online" but the biggest oddity was that you went all the way to Hawaii to shop in a mall and to eat at Bubba Gumps. The topper really is today, when you decide to judge the women who are prostitutes as "taking the easy way out". Please May just your juvenile trip report and no more.

Move along X there are plenty of young people on this board. I for one like May's fresh and excited look at Hawaii. Don't get upset that May points out this obvious social problem business in Hawaii should be pointing out to state legislators. Oh wait it is just easier to blame May and attack her grammar, sorry.

May those girls are not from Hawaii. The Hawaii call girls go to Japan and get jobs as "Hostesses" in bars.

The girls you saw work a circuit that goes something like Las Vegas, Tahoe, Honolulu, Tokyo and round again. What upsets me is how young they are. Nothing rips at your heart more than seeing a 17 seemingly non drug using prostitute.

Oh Sarah get off your know-it-all high horse. Stop with the pretend social concern. Talk about your silly "fresh" Hawaii adventure but leave your ridiculous analysis of social ills out of this discussion.

So Sarah anyone who does not agree with you should move along. No discussion or disagreement allowed? I'll move along and let you young-uns display your ignorance for all to see.

Well, I see "x" is up to his usual badmouthing and has absolutely nothing useful to contribute. Why don't you do us all a favor and find somewhere else to belittle people. What a jerk!

Thanks for the very thorough trip report May. So how long till your next trip to paradise?!

According to Sarah, anyone who looks like a hooker should be hauled into jail. Well that would in include Britny Spears as well as most teenagers today. Sorry Sarah, but it isn't that simple.

I didn't create this trip report for haters like "x". The whole purpose of this post is for people who would like to know more about other people's experience with their trip to Hawaii. You're welcomed to leave this post if you want to. No one forced you to read it. Apparently you are right, I'm young and very different from you. So different that you can't understand to mind your own business. It is none of your business why I went to Hawaii, and even if I did go there to shop and go to Bubba Gumps, its my money, my choice. As I've mentioned at the end of my post, I did say that I was in a rush. So what if my grammar was not exactly correct, who are you to judge?

I appreciate those of you whom enjoyed my post and put in time to add more informative sources to it. We shall move on!

Ignore the idiots May, they enjoy upsetting people. Your trip report was just fine, I enjoyed reading it (have been to Hawaii 14 times myself). I agree, how you choose to spend your money and time is your own business. Keep on enjoying life!!!

May I would have let it all go but when you started with the prostitute analysis it was necessary to point out what a low life you are too. If you want to discuss travel, do so. The social commentary you provided set you up for responses you don't like. Cast the first stone and watch out.

I felt the need to bring up the prostitutes because I had never heard of such a situation there. I was surprised by my revelation. I wanted to share my own experience with other people who might want to know what to expect. There's no point in debating between my opinion vs. your opinion. Apparently, we have very different outlook. I'm not going to stoop to your level and start calling you names.

Lenore, I'm hoping to go back to Maui next year plus visit another island. But this time, I want to make sure I have at least two weeks to spend there. Time just flies when you're having fun! What about you?

May don't respond to someone that calls you a lowlife. X is playing. Prostitutes in Waikiki appeared here as a topic frequently last year. Many not just Sarah were concern of the Social implications. More are baffled that the Tourist industry does not get involved to eradicate.

Last don't feel like you have to stop discussing anything because you have an idiot bully tagging on the thread.

That's right. Don't disagree with anyone on this board or you become a bully. Just make nice but let others spout off. Blah, blah, blah! Don't let May's opinion of the prostitutes get in the way her fresh little trip report.
