Trip From Columbus to New York
Dear All,
i'm in Columbus now and i'm planning to go for a road trip to New York City and from there i will flight home, while i'm looking to the options, i come out with two options which i need your recommendation and advises for which option is better and even what i should add to drop from any of the options, i will start my trip July 12 and i should be in New York July 24 before 4PM:
Option 1:
Columbus, OH .. to: Buffalo, NY .... then to: Watertown, NY .... then to: Green Mountain and Finger Lakes ... then to: Boston, MA ... then to: NYC
Option 2:
Columbus, OH .. to: Smoky Mountain, Tennessee ... then to: Myrtle Beach, SC ... then to: Philadelphia, PA ... then to: Six Flags Great Adventure ... then to: NYC
I really need your advises, i already rent a car to start tomorrow my trip.
Note: i'm going with my wife and two kids (7 & 12) years old, nothing specific (as a must) in our mind to see.
Thanks,

Well this time of year I would do a more northern route.
Are you going to Niagara Falls? Do you have the documents to go to the Canadian side which has much better views and more to see/do. (The area near the US side is not very pleasant.)
Any specific reason for Watertown?
Finger Lakes is in NY - Green Mountains are in Vermont - so these are out of order.

Nothing to do with time of year--I would do the southern route for more of a taste of Americana.
Stop in Asheville to see the Biltmore House.
Myrtle Beach is a "sight" and a taste of the American beach scene.
Perhaps instead of Philadelphia do Washington DC but in any case, do not miss Washington.
You can see a Six flags in Richmond VA, I think. Actually I think there is one in Cincinnati which you could do at the beginning of your trip.
