I've been to both--Savannah over San Antonio, whatever the season. San Antonio is very liveable, but there isn't much to do once you've seen the Alamo (which is disappointing), seen the RiverWalk (a mall, basically), and eaten some food (great Mexican and Tex Mex, some good Thai--the only thing worth the trip). Enjoy your trip!

Thanks everybody, I'm definitely planning on the Savannah trip! I noticed that my flights will be from Hartford to Wash,D.C., then D.C. to Savannah, both on small, 50 passenger jets. I've never been on a small plane, and I'm not a great flyer. How are these type of flights?

I used to fly those 4-6 times a month! (In and out of Dallas.) They are bumpier than big planes--just prepare yourself for that, mentally. They fly lower and so are more prone to being jostled by thermals and other wind and temp currents. And of course, the cabin is small. But I never had a single problem--no rough landings, no severe turbulence. Good luck!
