Travelling with your pet
I have travelled back and forth across the border between the U.S. and Canada frequently with show dogs. The last time I flew the customs people asked me if I had any pet food. As it turned out at that time they didn't make a big fuss about it. Can anyone direct me to a website, or offer advice re the regulations. I've been to the FDA website and couldn't see anything helpful. I just need to know how to travel with my dogs and their food so that we'll all get to our destination. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I think the questions may have had to do with mad cow disease. My dog's favorite chow was made in Canada and the store manager where I buy it said they can no longer obtain it because of mad cow disease.
Have you tried asking this Q on dog websites? they must have better advise about how to transport or get you're food when travelling across the border.

Website for US Customs is http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/.Try clicking on "Know Before You Go"
Website for Canadian customs is http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca
This in not an FDA issue, as the FDA deals with food/drug safety for food/drugs sold in the US.
