Travelling Tunes: What Gets You Through The Summer

Any special tunes you like to listen to during the summer? I love Jimmy Buffet but would like to hear about the groovy tunes you like to listen to while travelling to your summer destinations as I search for my lost shaker of salt ;-)

I just downloaded a ton of Jimmy Buffett songs for a Hawaiian theme party (Boat Drinks, Fruitcakes, Volcano - I love 'em all!) Here are some of my other summer favs -
James Taylor - Mexico & Your Smiling Face
Harry Nilson - Lime in the Coconut
Dean Martin - Papa Loves Mambo
Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea
Cat Stevens - Here Comes My Baby
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Southern Cross
Paul Simon - Cecelia

Boat music on the lake - Dixie Chicks - anything, including Wide Open Spaces
Traveling music for road trips - John Denver for nostalgic reasons (Jet Plane, Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home, Rippling Waters)
Traveling to the beach - Iz, especially Somewhere over the Rainbow
Driving around town - Wicked soundtrack
Tomorrow - Martina McBride's Independence Day

iamq--I hope you're collection includes some music by Israel Kamakawiwo'de--his cd "Alone In Iz World" is wonderful! Enjoy a great trip!

Starrsville, Iz's version of "somewhere over the rainbow" is one of my all time faves.

dcespedes,
Thanks. The Iz cd I have is "n Dis Life". I love it. I bought it in Maui 10 years ago. Have you heard Hapa's first cd? That's the one I am really in love with. Amazing. According to auntiemaria, one half of Hapa, Keli`i Kaneali`i is performing at Tahiti Nui in Hanalei. We're staying just around the corner! I'm so there!

I have several cds of music from Disney World...parades,Illuminations,etc. They really lift my spirits and make me feel as though I am still on vacation. Do any of you play music you picked up on vacation to make you feel as though you are back there?

Oh, golly - this must be a coded way to figure out Fodorite ages. But dammit! - is there anything better, any time, anywhere, than Bob Seger's Old Time Rock 'n' Roll?

NO!!!!!

And i just recently told my spouse that when I die, after we've done everything else including some Emperor symphony; Four Seasons and Amazing Grace by bagpipes, I want everyone boppin' on out to...Old Time Rock 'n' Roll!!!!

Well, Wednesday, I SING On the Road Again and Hit the Road, Jack...but neither very well.

Burn an extra travel CD for me, wouldya? I'd love to have the music in a form that doesn't hurt others' ears!
