Travel to Biloxi
We are planning a family outing to Biloxi and are looking at either the Beau Rivage, The Grand Casino Bayview Resort and the Imperial Palace. Does anyone have any ideas which would be better? Also what is there in the area for kids ages 10-14? Restuarant ideas? Activities other than golf or boating?

Personally, I wouldn't take my kids to Biloxi since there's not much to do except gamble. Beau Rivage is the nicest casino hotel of the group, followed by Grand and last the Imperial. I was bored by two days in Biloxi as an adult. I can't imagine what your 10-14 year olds will do.

Of those resorts the Beau Rivage is definitely the nicest; it has a pretty pool and a lot of restaurants on site. I don't have kids, so beyond hanging out at the beach and pool and maybe playing minigolf i don't know what there is for them. There is a small mardi gras museum and a pottery museum but not sure they're much of an attraction for kids. If you fish, the fishing charters are supposed to be good in Biloxi.

I grew up in Gulfport, but it's changed a lot since I left in the late 80's. The Beau Rivage is nice. I'm not familiar with the other properties you mentioned. The strip in Biloxi has assorted miniature golf places (Goofy Golf is the best, imo), and there are some water park type places with bumper boats and water slides. The Pan Am clipper runs to Ship Island from Gulfport harbor. There is also a sister ship that runs from Biloxi. There is an old fort on the island that is neat for kids. The park service has built up the island a good deal. When I was a kid and we took the ski boat out to the island, there were no facilities, but now there is a boardwalk, changing rooms, concessions, etc. I think Marine Life in Gulfport is still open and might interest your kids. They offer sea lion and dolphin shows, but if you've ever been to SeaWorld or any place of that magnitude, Marine Life probably won't have much to offer. Don't forget New Orleans is less than 2 hours from Biloxi and has a great aquarium and lots to see and do. If I come up with anymore ideas on the Coast, I'll repost.

Mark, we go to Biloxi quite often and our favorite hotel is The Grand at Gulfport. The Oasis section of that hotel is new and has a lovely pool with a lazy river, complete with floats surrounding the pool. The rooms are quite nice, with refrigerators and microwaves. There is also an indoor pool in the older section of the hotel for rainy days. The Marine Show, located near by is quite good, I've been told. Many of the hotels have arcades for teenagers and a nursery is provided for younger childdren. "Lord Of The Dance" at The Beau Rivage Hotel is an enjoyable family show. I would not recommend staying at The Beau Rivage. We stayed there recently and it is beautiful, but very crowded and their pool area is not as nice. The Grand is much quieter. "Beauvoir", the home of Jefferson Davis is of historical interest. The Grand has access to several great golf courses. Boat trips are available also. New Orleans not too far from Gulfport. The Imperial Palace is not the place to stay, though they have a large movie theater located within the hotel complex, where your children could enjoy one of six movies, while you are in the casino. It's fun place for a viist of a few days.
