Travel time Monterey to Oakland Airport?
We will be traveling from Monterey to Oakland Airport on a Saturday. I've got on mapquest, and see it takes about 2 hours for this distance, but how much time do I need to account for in traffic on Saturday? And airport time? Any help would be great. Thanks

Saturday is not a bad traffic day. Your estimate of 2 hours is reasonable.
Take Highway 1 from Monterey, then cut across Highway 156 to Highway 101. In San Jose, from 101 take Interstate 880 to Oakland. There is no mountain driving along this route and it should be relatively fast and easy for you.
As for airport time, I'm assuming that you have a rental car. Give yourself about 1/2 hour to return the car and 1/2 hour to get from the rental area to the terminal and then get your baggage checked in. That's a minimum of 1 hour.
It's difficult to know how long you will be spending in line waiting to get checked in.
How early does your airline tell you to arrive?
I usually plan to have a wait of at least an hour before flight time.
Thus, if your flight leaves at noon, - if it were me - I'd start out from Monterey no later than 8 am. Two hours for driving, an hour to return car and check in, then another hour's wait.
Hope this helps!

Here is to give you an airport idea: I flew out on Sunday with Southwest, took about 20 minutes to check my luggage, and another 20 minutes to go through security. Allow some time "in between", like walking from parking, finding your gate, restroom time.

It depends on who you rented your car from. I'd give a half hour if you rented from one of the "majors" (Hertz, Avis, National); their lots are close to the airport. The non-majors might be farther off the property and may require a rather long shuttle bus ride.
Good news is, Saturday is an off-peak travel day, so the traffic at the airport should not be bad.

Monterey has an airport. Too bad you cannot use that for the connection.
Also, San Jose has an airport that you will drive by on the way to Oakland Airport. Use of SJ Airport would knock 1 hour off your trip with no problem. If you are stuck with Oakland, the first post is accurate.
