Hi havaneses. You can take the train from BWI to Union Station in D.C., and then, depending on where your hotel is, transfer to the appropriate metro line. The train is called MARC, unless it doesn't run on weekends. In that case, you'd take Amtrak. Good luck!

The MARC commuter trains don't run on weekends; even when they're running, you have to take a shuttle bus from BWI to the train station. Amtrak does run, but is expensive.
We just take the Metro's B30 express bus to the Greenbelt station; it leaves from right outside ther terminal. It runs every 40 minutes, 7 days per week, and costs just $3.

If you have only 1 bag per person (none of them large) take the B30 bus. I took it even on Friday, as the bus/subway combination would get me downtown before the next MARC would even arrive. Subway fare will be $2.35 if I remember correctly, but purchasing an all day "Visitors Pass" for unlimited travel might work out better.
If you return the same way, get a transfer pass from the dispenser at the station you board Metro from (or any station along the way) and the bus will cost only $2.10 (exact change!) on your return.
