transportation from arlington, va to baltimore, md

What is the best way to get from arlington to baltimore the least expensive way? I was thinking the train. Then how to do get from the train station to BWI airport?

The Amtrak stops at BWI where a free shuttle takes you the last little bit to the terminal. I assume you know how to take the metro to DC train station.

Book your Amtrak tickets at least three or four weeks in advance. We didn't and they would have cost us $33 each, rather than $11 each. We ended up taking the Metro from Arlington to the Greenbelt station and transferring to the B30 bus, which takes you to BWI. This option costs around $8.

You can also go to Union Station weekdays and get the MARC train to BWI, which costs about $6.

Hello kkozik,

The MARC train weekdays also goes all the way into Baltimore City and is an inexpensive option; the Penn Line (which you must take to get to BWI) is faster than the Camden Line to go from Union Station-> Baltimore. You can buy your MARC tickets at the Quik Trak kiosks at Union Station. On weekends, MARC doesn't go so you're limited to the more expensive Amtrak or a less expensive bus (e.g., Greyhound).

From Baltimore City to BWI, there's MARC on weekdays (from Penn Station) and on weekdays & weekends (even less expensive than MARC, but with more stops) Baltimore's Light Rail system (which you can pick up by the baseball stadium or by Lexington Market) drops you off at the door of the airport.

Best wishes, Daniel
