oh boy, I think I understand that I can take the Amtrack from Penn Station in NYC to Philly on 30th. I see a price at 39 dollars and I am fine with that. I also understand I need to be ready to move to the platform about 10 minutes before when the platform number is is posted. And oh yeah, I may need to push a bit.thanks much.

Not sure what the comments are about in terms of the rush or pushing. I take Amtrak frequently fron NYP to DC. Yes, once the track is announced people move quickly to get in line, but then you stand in a fairly long line and make your way down a narrow escalator and get on the train. There really is plenty of time and no pushing or shoving that I have experienced in my many trips over the years. I find it far easier than many stations in Europe where you have to run over a fair distance to get to our track.

I think you've made a good decision based on your comfort level, tidy. For future readers, I want to add that I've taken this route on NJ Transit/Septa with my kids and found it very easy to do. I have done quite a bit of commuting on SEPTA but that was decades ago.
