1) Washington, D.C.
2) Yellowstone/Tetons
3) Grand Canyon
4) Colorado
5) New York
This means two visits, a 10-15 day trip divided between NY and DC and a 2-4 week circle drive covering Rocky Mountain National Park over to the southern Utah parks, down to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then back through southern Colorado to Denver (or, if 3-4 weeks are available, up to Yellowstone/Tetons area).

Top 5 in the US... in no particular order:
1. Alaskan cruise with a stop in Juneau
2. NYC -- with a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art
3. Washington, DC -- daytrip to Alexandria and Baltimore or Annapolis
4. Tour the Southwest, including Anasazi cliff dwellings and Santa Fe
5. Asheville, Charleston, Savannah, or New Orleans -- pick one to see a beautiful Southern city filled with art.

Not to be picky or anything, but New York, or New York City, is not a sight. The Empire State Building is a sight. New York is a city.
Further, Maurice is asking for the top 5 of sights, not the following:
1. Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty.
2. Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons or Grand Central Station
3. Museum of Art or Museum of Transportation, and so on.
You're already up to 7 things and you're not even to number 4 yet! C'mon you bunch of nudniks, answer the question!
