We're going to see Tony & Tina's Wedding this weekend (not my pick but sometimes you just have to go with the flow). Can anyone who's seen it in Chicago or anywhere else advise on how people dress for this? I've heard it's just like a real wedding.

I've been Kristi, but not recently. It was probably more than 6 years ago. I would wear something nice- maybe a dress or classy pants outfit- but you do NOT need to go formal.

This is fun but, IMHO, it's relative to those in your group or the party you are seated closely with/to- how much they play along or not. Hope you are going with a fun group.

Tell us what's it like circa 2007, also about the food- afterwards.

If you're going to get into the spirit of the thing, I'd think overdressing to the point of "tacky". A nice jersey knit leopard print dress with massive gold jewelry and red shoes and purse would do the trick.

Oh yes, you could do that. But be warned that if you do, you must also have your witty cap on, because you are going to be given attention that may require verbal reaction etc.

I'd love to report back that I had a good time but although there were a few laughs, I think the concept may be past it's prime. And it really is dependent on the crowd, we happened to have a large Sweet 16 party at our show and they jumped up for every song, dance, etc. pretty much freezing out anyone else who wanted to participate. Can't say that I'd recommend it based on my experience, certainly not to anyone who is not there with a group, I kept thinking how boring it would be if you weren't seated with friends.

The food was edible, that's about the kindest thing I can say about it-salad, pasta, sausage & peppers.

Tony and Tina's wedding, like Blue Man Group, seemed like they were good ideas at the time, but have been pushed past the point of relevance. Due to circumstances that I will not go into, I've seen blue man group three times. When I first saw it, when it first began in Chicago, it was new and innovative and I really enjoyed it. When I saw it this past year, it seemed tired and dated (even though they had added new material), I'm not sure if this speaks to my tastes changing or the nature of the show, but I do think that happens with a lot of these long running somewhat gimmicky theater shows, they are a lot of fun when they first begin for a good laugh, but they become less interesting as they become more ubiquitous and the concept becomes more dated.

Yes, once was enough. They served the same Italian sausages 8 years ago.

I've never been a fan of Tony and Tina's and other such "entertainment" where you are supposed to improvise and be part of it. But it's funny that when I put it down once before here I was attacked for not "getting" it and apparently having no sense of humor. Several people raved, saying it was the most fun they've had, etc.

Oh, well, to each his own.
But I'm curious, Kristi, what DID you wear?

Ha, ha, I perused my wardrobe for leopard skin prints but didn't find any so I went with my old standby of black dress pants and a black top. Would have been perfect if it was Tony & Tina's Funeral!

That format really isn't my type of thing either, if you get a dud crowd then it would be just dreadful.
