Tips for Cleveland Visit

Any cannot miss places to visit in Cleveland? I will be there for a one day business trip and have the afternoon for site seeing.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even if you're not a huge fan of rock music it is an intriguing place and well worth a visit.

I think it depends on your interests ... the R&R Hall of Fame is good, and the Science Center with the IMAX theater is close by as well. If you're into museums, you'll want to head to University Circle and check out the Art Museum, Natural History Museum, etc. If you like the party scene, you'll probably want to check out the Flats with the bars and restaurants, warehouse lofts, barges, etc. Playhouse Square also often has free matinees, tours of the theaters, etc. Probably more than you wanted to know, but you do have a lot of options. How will you be getting around? Where will you be staying? Feel free to e-mail me and I'll help you out if I can.

Hi Mark-The Cleveland Museum of Art is world class and would be a great way to spend the afternoon - plus the price of admission can't be beat - FREE.

If your interest is space and science-either the Science Center (located next to the R&R Hall of Fame) in downtown would be good, OR, an often overlooked place is the space museum at Glenn Space Center (formerly NASA Lewis Research Center)which is located next door to Cleveland Hopkins airport. Not sure of the hours though.

The Cleveland Zoo/Rainforest is also a great place to visit. Depending on when you visit, the Rainforest would be a great place to feel some tropical temps in cold, cold Cleveland this time of year !!

Feel free to e-mail with questions.

ENJOY

Hey Mark,
I was just there last Thursday. After seeing the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, we walked over three blocks and caught the RTA train to Tower City. RTA is a good way to get around, and the Flats are on the way to Tower City. Tower City is an awesome place to visit...it is beautiful, and has a huge shopping mall inside. I wanted to go to University Circle, but ran out of time. I've been to Cleveland four times, and have always had a blast. The Rock Hall/Tower City thing is a good one-day activity. Like the others say, feel free to e-mail me, although I'm not as up on things as a native.

Following up on Bob's comments, visitors might be interested to know that it's easy to reach some of the downtown and lakefront attractions via train directly from the airport.

I'm going from memory, but I believe you should look for the signs at the airport that say RTA. Take the train down to Tower City (which itself is worth a visit), then switch to the Waterfront Line if you are interested in the area with the rock 'n' roll museum.

I'm a former resident. Maybe someone who still lives there can fill me in if I've missed anything.
