thank you-the guide is good, but it didn't answer my question specifically-how much to you tip a concierge for getting theatre tickets.

If the tickets were easy to obtain, no special connections required, etc, I usually tip $10-15. More for hard to obtain tix or sold out shows.

Hey ita, perhaps you can post your very specific question to a forum dedicated to tipping questions:

http://www.tipping.org/discus/

In my opinion, getting tickets or dinner reservations does not require any special tip for a concierge beyond what is listed in Fodors guide or on above website.

Do you mean to say that ita should give the concierge $5-10 as Fodors recommends?

BTW, does the concierge get a salary?

Most (not all) concierges get a salaray as well as commision for certain bookings. I usually tip only when they have gone above and beyond (hard to get tickets) or I spend a lot of time using them (multiple bookings, directions, etc).
