Tiburon

We are looking to stay in SF for a week and am looking at a house in Tiburon called Tiburon Landing. It looks like a great location because it is near the ferry and close to a little town with restuarants. Has anybody stayed at this place and is this Town a good take?

The town is great (cute, upscale, on the bay, restaurants, shops, etc....). No idea about the accommodations.

If you are looking for a quiet, upscale location, outside of SF, Tiburon is an OK. Wouldn't be my choice as a base for SF, but don't know what you are looking for. Hopefully you will have a car as I believe the last ferry to Tiburon from SF is around 8:30p.m. or so.

We like it a lot better than Sausalito because it hasn't been very crowded when we have been there.

But in many ways it is just a very small town that happens to be located in an impossibly gorgeous area with unbelievable views.

I don't think there is much in the way of night life, and you can do all the shopping in a day, but it is a great location for day tours to San Francisco by ferry and for car trips to a lot of places north of the city.

Not just in "many ways"...in all ways, that's what it is. Any way you look at it, it's a suburb of San Francisco, just very upscale, and in a gorgeous setting.

Be sure to ask exactly where the house is. Is it in the flat part of "downtown" Tiburon? Or is it up in the hills? If so you may have a steep walk back from town.

The local nightlife will mostly be limited to Sam's Anchor Cafe.

There are Golden Gate transit busses also, but outside of commute hours they will often involve a transfer at Marin City or parking your car at Strawberry and getting off at Tiburon Wye.
