Thinking About Moving - Augusta, Georgia

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Augusta, Ga, based on a job offer. We don't know anything about Augusta. Would appreciate it if anyone could give us any information about living there....cost of living, traffic, housing, things to do (besides golfing). All of our children are grown. We like to bike, walk, shop, hike, attend museums, theatre, etc.... Would there be a particular good area to buy a home. Thanks for any info. you can share with us!

Couldn't tell you much about Augusta, but we lived in Georgia for 15 years and loved every minute of it. The South is a wonderful place to live, especially with all of its history, gentleness, and strong values. The housing prices in Georgia, although they have gone up in past years, are still lower than many places in the country.

My husband and I considered moving to Augusta (we now live north of Atlanta) a couple of years ago. Augusta is very HOT and humid in the summer, usually several degrees hotter than Atlanta. We looked at several areas for houses -- the prices didn't seem too bad. Contact one of the local travel agents; you can get lots of information that way.

Why is Augusta so much hotter than Atlanta ... Is it Atlanta's elevation?

Locals can usually round up practice round passes to the Masters.

If you've never been it is a site to behold.

Either that or rent your house out to someone during that week.
