Connie,
I lived in Naples for 10 years, and my parents are still there... go to the Naples Pier for sure. The downtown area is really beautiful. Dont think downtown like that of a big city with taxi's ect, that is not downtown in Naples. There are great shops, resturants, scenery. Also the area where Ben n Jerry's Ice cream in Park Shore is lovely as well
All of the beaches are fabulous. I especially like the beach in front of the Ritz

Boy are some people confused. First of all the St. Patrick's Day Parade was on March 16, Saturday rather than Sunday, March 17. Yes I survived wearing a Hamlet costume, but have no idea what the reference to "gowns" was. I guess the reason someone thought it was on the 25th was that this question was about what do on the week of March 25th and someone answered about the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
About my "hating" the Ritz?? I love the Ritz in Naples, particularly the beach bar, for drinks, casual foods and spectacular sunsets. I once made a comment to a woman looking for a "refined" place in London and said that maybe she wouldn't be happy at the Ritz in London (no connection with the Ritz in Naples) because it is filled with tour groups. Some idiot translated that to mean that I detest tourists. That's what that comment refers to, although I am a tourist and love many touristy things, I was trying to warn a woman who obviously was looking for "refined and quiet" that the Ritz in London may not be "refined and quiet" enough for her. Some people are too ignorant or stupid to understand what I was talking about.
What else to do in Naples? World class dining especially along 5th Avenue South. Enjoying the very lovely and quiet beach. Walking the boardwalk at the Corkscrew Sanctuary. Shopping along 3rd Street South. Visiting the conservancy on Goodlette Road. Sunsets from the pier in Olde Naples.

If you have children, you could take them to the jungle larry zoo,in Naples....also, dont miss the dolphin watching (usually late afternoon) at the Snook Inn in Marco Island, which is a tiki bar and restaurant, and is right on the gulf. Marco is about 15 miles from the downtown naples area.
For some daytime entertainmnet, Stans Place in Goodland, just outside of Marco, has great entertainment, its outisde on the water, and has a cluster of tiki huts for shade, kids can feed the fish, have lunch, dance, etc...usually a 10 pc band is playing bu this is ONLY on Sunday afternoons beginning at one pm. Get there a tad early if you want good seats.
