The Venetian

Message: I recently heard that the Venetian in Vegas had lost a star rating -- is this true, and if so, why? Thanks

GoTravel -- nice to see that you are "policing" the posts. And, no, I am not thinking the Bellagio. Thanks.

the Venetian's always had a 4 star (AAA) rating...I'd be very surprised if it slipped to 3...

snapple, glad to oblige.

No, the Venetian has always been a AAA 4 Diamond Resort.

Mobile redid their rating system and as a result ALL properties rated by Mobile lost a diamond. Not because of shoddy service or because the hotel is going downhill but because Mobile's criteria changed.

This discredited the Mobile rating system and has really hurt Mobile.

If that bothers you, I suggest you stay in the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton but they also have lost a Mobile star.

The Bellagio however, has been downgraded from my understanding.

Does that satisfy you?

No problem.

I do know that as massive as a hotel as the Venitian is, it would be easy to let the little stuff go but they maintain fairly high standards.

Just FYI, Mobile is a city in Alabama.

Mobil is the company that sells oil (now part of ExxonMobil) and does the travel guide.
