The tree is here! The tree is here!
Yeah! This morning on my way to work I noticed that the Christmas tree for Rockefeller Center has arrived. They were unloading it and trying to hoist it on a HUGH crain for placement in the plaza.
For those of you traveling to NYC for the holidays or anytime soon. The windows at Sacks are almost done (99%). I'm not sure about the one at Lord & Taylors though.
There's now a new American Girl Place store right across from Saks and business seems brisk. There was a lot of publicity surrounding the opening of the store.

Hi, if you notice any more windows finished (or close to being finished) will you post back? We will be in the city towards the end of next week and I would like to show my traveling companions the holiday displays. I'm sure that will see some while walking anyway, but if I know that some are done I'll make sure that we pass by. Thanks!

Ok, I don't want to get picky here, but 1) is it that much of a crime if there is a typo in the OP message? and 2) Do you really have to post to make sure you get "credit" for something you MUST have said first?
Glad the tree has arrived, NYC is an exciting place year round, but the holidays are really special.

You guys are too much, LOL. Doc no offense taken at all. I meant to say "huge crane".
I will take a walk further down fifth tomorrow during lunch and will check on Lord & Taylors' (very windy) outside today). I will also check the other store further north as well. This time of year I generally walk during my lunch hour.
It always seems to amaze me just how the city just seems to come so much more alive with the decorations. Yesterday on the way home, one of the designers was working on the Saks window...I stopped (couldn't help myself)and commeded her on the job...just beautiful work!

andreaac...It's always good to know that christmas brings out the youthful enthusiasm in all of us. I suppose watching Rudolph with my kids,or something like that will do it for me this year.
For some reason,I think I offended Grantop. Whoops!

Brings up the age old debate: There are two kinds of people out there defined specifically by this topic, ones that buy fake trees and people who will only get real ones. You know who you are

andreaac, Yeah baby, here we go with that good ol' consumer (in your words) Christmas spirit! Did anybody ask the tree if it wanted to be cut down and hauled off to NYC?
I'm Joking!!!
I guess some people can't see the humor in things.

My husband and I will be in NY at the end of next week, but I had no idea that the Christmas decorations would already be up (or at least partially up). We're definitely stopping by Rockefeller Center and walking 5th Ave., then! Thanks for letting us know.

Those poor trees. All the wraping paper, boxes, cards etc. They make such a sacrifice for our holiday enjoyment.
I think I see what jor is getting at. We need an environmentally safe holiday for the trees. I think one of the democrat candidates should campaign on that issue.

Cheryl, your welcome. There should be plenty for you guys to see next weekend. I'm note sure MetLife has done their toy display as yet either. Macy's on 34th street is also not too shabby either and might be worth a look.
Doc, okay. I get your joke. I don't mind someone cracking a joke at me every once in a while. Hey, I ride the subway every day for crying out loud...couldn't get more hillarious than that
