The Producers - 2nd cast

Now that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are not doing the Producers anymore, is it any easier to get seats? I'd love to go to the show, but realize it has been a sellout for months.

The show is still selling out. There is still a huge advance....But, it might be easier, relatively speaking, to get tickets. When do you want to go?

It is going to be sold out for a while, but I have a feeling that the secondary market will cool down. You should be able to pick them up for 150% of face value instead of 200% +

Myabe I just got lukcy (or else it was becuase it was Weds afternoon) but I walked up to the Box Office Weds Morning (Mar 20) and got seats for the matinee that afternoon. It's still hard to get tickets, but not impossible.

Just wanted to add that we saw The Producers last Tuesday, and while we were more than a little disappointed that Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick did their final show on Sunday, I have to say their replacements were fantastic! Excellent show. If you can get tickets, definitely see it. We bought ours last summer, but I'm sure there's some available "day of" if you don't mind getting to the box office early and waiting on line.

Can anyone give me a rundown of the story line of the show-The Producers?
I might be bringing a church group to see it in LA (in 2003) but won't if there is offensive language, situations (very conservative).
Thank you for any information!

Although I consider it very mild (lots of old vaudeville type material) don't know that I would recommend for a "very" conservative group. Some sexual innuendo, etc. They set up a plan to bilk their investors (old ladies that one of the producers seduces in response for their investment). Again, a great show, but don't know any show that would probably fit a very conservative group besides the Lion King. Happy hunting.

Rent the Mel Brooks movie and watch it, then decide if the play will be good for your group.

Don't think I'd take a church group. There is what some people consider offensive language and a lot of sexual innuendo.

At the Opening Night Benefit at Gildas Club in NYC, Mel Brooks said
"This is filthy, dirty, vulgar and you will love it!"

Shadow -- I took my (very conservative) in-laws to the show. At one of the baudier parts, I leaned over to my husband and said that I might not have picked the show for the IL's if I'd known it would be so racy. His words, "HELLO, it's Mel Brooks! Did you see Blazing Saddles?!?" Enough said.

Thanks everyone! No, I have not seen
ANY of Mel Brooks movies. But, your inputs have helped a lot. I appreciate your thoughtful responses and no judgement!
Thank you very much.

It's actually quite a bit bawdier than the movie. The F word plays a prominent role in one song. If you are concerned about your church group, better forget it. And if they are really a bunch of bible belters, the whole "keep it gay" sequence will probably give them cardiac arrest.

This whole thread now has me worried. We are planning a family vaction this summer and we have already bought tickets to see The Producers. Our children are 10 and 12. On their website it said content was appropriate for audiences 10 and over. Beginning to sound like a horrible mistake.

It is funny and not a mistake!
Do you think that it would be a sold out for a year in advance success if it was so risque? or offensive?
So not let some others opinions on what is offensive ruin things for you.

Fear not, X, I'm sure that in today's world your children have heard the F word already! (If my memory serves me, it's only used once.....and it's a very funny line, which happens to be on the show's album, as well!)
