Th original guy parodied on Seinfeld owned Soup Kitchen International, on 55th street. He closed that location about a year ago and is now involved in a venture to open "thousands" of locations of his empire. As far as I know, his only current location is in NYC in the area btween Times Square and Grand Central (can't remember the exact location on 42nd street). There were huge lines there when it originally opened, not so much anymore

A couple of years ago I was in NY with a friend. We went out of our way to locate the soup kitchen, only to find it was closed.
