I rather figured as much - this place was suggested as a venue for a family dinner - most of us from well out of town - east coast actually - family ranging from early 20's to 70's....didn't want to bring my parents there if it is loud or over-run with 20-somethings.....I heard the location is nice and food is good - prices a little high. Was looking for thoughts...

jenn,
I was just kidding. Your header is really not what you want in a header....it can be taken several ways. I choose to do it "funny".
Had your header read --The Lobster (Restaurant) in Santa Monica-- people might know you meant a restaurant. Your header did not indicate that.
Might be one reason you have really had no responses.

The Lobster is indeed a restaurant at the foot of the Santa Monica Pier and it is exactly the place you want to take an extended family for a nice $$$$ dinner. Nothing trendy about it, not full of 20somethings, great view and recently well reviewed in the LA Times.

Great views of pier, beach and Malibu and food is MUCH better than you would expect from this type of location.
Very casual dress (shorts OK, esp. at lunch), prices vary from $12 for a sandwich to $50 for a 2lb lobster. Figure about $25 entree.
Lunch is better, IMO, because of the views. Or go at sunset.
Enjoy.
