The kindness of strangers

Back late last nite and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Two nice "human" experiences - first, while trying to find our hotel after landing in Ft Lauderdale, got lost, and pulled into a convenience store. There was an Emery delivery service guy getting out of a truck so asked him how to get to our hotel. He gave us directions and off we went. A few blocks later, we were stopped at a red light and someone pounds on the window. It was the Emery guy. He said he had given us the wrong directions and if we would let him in front of us, he would lead us to our hotel. So he led us right up to the hotel. Thought it was so nice of him to "chase" after us and find us so he could get us to our hotel. Then, in the airport while waiting for our return flight, the California Pizza kitchen people had already closed, but one of the girls said she would open up for me so I could get a pizza to take on the plane. The other workers there gave her dirty looks but she said, Hey, this girl looks hungry and I'm trying to be nice. Thought that was so sweet of her.

You have to tell us more about your trip

My daughter was in an accident in Tennessee, in the mountains. I had to fly then drive to get to the hospital. When I arrived, there was a lady waiting at the hospital. She had heard about the girl in the accident who was all alone .. she stayed at the hospital until I got there, she stayed with me until we knew my daughter would be ok.
She said that her husband was a trucker, that she would hope that if he were ever in an accident, that someone would be so kind as to be there for him. So she was doing it for me.
It is amazing how kind people really are when you need it~

My daughter runs track for her college team. Somewhere between N carolina and PA she lost her wallet. Some lovely person mailed it to our home with $10.00 (a fortune to a college student) still in it. And no address to send a thank you. Thank you who ever you are. Once again my faith in the inherent honesty of people has been restored.

Scarlett, that lady was an angel. At least my definition of one.

What wonderful stories!!! On one of my trips to Hawaii, we were on the road to Hana when I fell down an embankment at a lookout, about a six-foot plunge. (Thank God, I didn't plunge FORWARD.... I wouldn't be here typing this!) Anyway, I broke my ankle, was almost in shock....... I can't tell you how kind people were, from the emergency room personnel at the hospital in Kahului, to the American Airlines personnel who helped me in the airports, gave me the best/most convenient seats on the planes....... as I had to come home early after being in Hawaii for only six days. I met lots of *angels* on that trip home!

Biking, i found some eyeglasses on the street once. Inside the case was a prescription with the owners name & phone number. I called and got her husband. He was elated! Told me to wait right there while he went to the ATM to get me a twenty dollar reward. I told him not to bother..and I waited. I was poor as a churchmouse then but I didn't want the poor man's money. Soon he pulled up in his brand new shiny cadillac, without the $20, and with a mean look on his face. "Yep, those glasses belong to my wife alright!" he said..."where did you find them?"

"Right over there in front of that house" I said.

"Yep", he said "that's her car right there! I can't thank you enough young lady...I have been trying to find out where her d#!m boyfriend lives for months now, and THAT must be the place!!"

I was reminded of another story----about 20 years ago I was at a ski resort and had $80 in my ski jacket pocket. Later, when I reached into my pocket, the money was gone. I asked at the front desk if anyone had turned in $80 thinking that of course whoever had found it would have kept it since it was cash. Wrong. One of the employees had found it on the lobby floor and had given it to the front desk clerk. I was amazed at the employees' honesty.
