Has anyone stayed at or know anything about The Imperial (of Waikiki Suites) on Lewers??? From the description on their website it's all suites, some are timeshares and some are hotel rentals. It sounds very reasonable and nice, good location. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't too good to be true. It had all good comments from tripadvisor.com. Any info you have would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Waikiki Towers on one trip and decided to try the Imperial the next time. BOTH rooms were quite small. The Imperial studio was impossible for the two of us so we upgraded to a one bedroom (small) but at least you could move around without hitting a table or a bed. They have Murphy beds in the living area.
Area was great, but don't even consider a studio.
The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful at the towers. NOT so at the Imperial.

I have to differ with Arlene. I rented an Ohia Studio at the Imperial and I thought is was great! The studio did have a murphy bed, but that gives you more room when the bed is put up into the wall. The room was a decent size, absolutely not cramped, and with the bed up, it was more than adequate. The Imperial has a great pool, albeit not too large, on the 26th floor, from which you get a FANTASTIC view of all of Waikiki, and Honolulu. You can see past the airport, and in the evening, the sunset view is SPECTACULAR! The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Another thing I liked was that whenever I needed a towel, I just went down to the third floor, where they have the laundry, and I helped myself to anything I needed. They even supply you with towels for the beach, and they are not skimpy towels, they are large and substantial. I also enjoyed going down to the lobby to Denny's for breakfast. I deplore Denny's in Maryland, but this one is exceptional, at least for breakfast. All in all, I would say that the Imperial is a great place, and you cannot beat the location, as far as I'm concerned. I had a room on the 19th floor, facing Lewers Street, directly above the entrance, and it was a great room. Also the price was great. Have fun.

You might be better off to check www.biddingfortravel.com and get a hotel from Priceline. I got the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for $50 a night.

There was some kind of labor issue going on at the Imperial last month. Lots of picketing and protesting. I'm not sure whether it's all resolved or what the impact would be. Also, just looking across the street at the place from the Ohana, it doesn't give a particularly good impression.

Thanks for all the info. I have to admit I'm reluctant to try something like Priceline.com or biddingfortravel.com due to the lack of cancellation without fees and it doesn't look like you get a choice of non-smoking rooms which is important to my husband with allergies. Expedia and Travelocity also seem to offer good deals. Has anyone tried them?
