Bay Area has just experienced a 5.2 EQ. Everyone OK?

Watching the San Jose/Colo Avs Game and tv announcer from COLO started laughing when it happened! Didnt deter the game in anyway!

By California standards, a 5.2 quake is not too big a deal. This a a wake up call to always be prepared for the "big one"

A big earthquake in CA is just a matter of time. The predictions are that the "big one" will be no later than 2003, if I remember correctly. Sometimes smaller quakes can preceed the bigger ones. (Actually, it's better if the smaller ones come first. It means the bigger one won't be as devastating.)

We didn't even feel it in the North Bay, only heard about it on the news this morning.

Sounded like 100 squirrels were running across our roof.

I felt my apartment building shaking violently for about 5 seconds. Nothing fell - no fun I leave on the south side of Nob Hill.

Just the kinda earthquake I love! Just a little rockin and rollin, enough to make you look at your husband and say "we're having an earthquake." It's been a while since I felt one. I missed the big one in LA and SF due to good moving timing on my part. The news last night was trying so hard to make something of it. I think some ketchup bottles broke in a restaurant supply store in Gilroy, that's about it. I'll take more of these any day if it means we avoid a really big one.

I guess our earthquake in Rochester never made it past our local newspapers. Last Saturday we had a 4.8 one. We slept through it. California looks as if it is going to fall right into the ocean. Ouch!!!!!

Hey, upstate, we heard about it! We were commenting on how the buildings in New York are not built to sustain quakes like they are here. But isn't there a faultline that runs under Manhattan?

That's a pretty bold prediction if indeed that's true.
You realize that means within 7 months.
That's a very short time in 'seismology years'.

Dogs and I slept through this one. Husband said shades shook a bit (in Palo Alto). They think this might have been on the San Andreas fault which would be a good thing to relieve a little pressure on that fault. I think I remember there's a 10% chance that we'll have another bigger one within a week--up one point on the Richter scale. Where the big one in 2003 came from, God knows. Must be a rumor started by those nasty homeless. Rather have these than hurricanes or tornadoes, and yes, you guys in NY, we heard about your earthquake. Thought it was peculiar.

Yup. Felt it... Actually, I thought I was fainting or loosing my balance. I was brushing my teeth and was bending over the sink just as the first one started. I stood up slowly, thinking it was just me... and then the second one rolled through - rolled being the operative word. I prefer the ones that roll to the ones that bounce us. It was a gentle reminder about where we live.
