NYCSue has volunteered for more NYC projects than anyone else I know. She is also professional tour guide. I do not know anyone who uses NYC more or is more dedicated to NYC than Sue.

She was not seeking anything for herself but thanks and courtesy for people who do things for free.

And this is why people don't want to write trip reports--they inevitably get spoiled by Fodorgarch pettiness.

IMO, Sue went out of her way to take offense at Cjar's report, which was complimentary towards her greeter. Tourists have limited time, and New York offers an embarrassment of riches. Cjar gave a candid assessment of her planning concerns, she did not slight her greeter, and she copped to some over scheduling.

Where's the crime here??

SueNYC- Let me just begin by saying thank you for all of the information you offered when I was planning this trip. I actually do appreciate not only your help, but the fact that a New York resident would take time out of his very busy life to show tourists everything that they love about their home town. I am sorry you found the abbreviation offensive. Please note that I also mentioned Howard by his given name, not some nameless entity whose time I was entitled to, as well as referring to him as a

Lovely greeter (twice)

Please also note that I initially requested a time in mid afternoon because I knew I wanted to visit St. John's earlier in the day.. It was definitely my mistake scheduling evening tours as well and ,yes, I'll fess up, I was trying to cover all of the bases just in case.. Having said that, we didn't ask Howard to rearrange his entire day to suit us and our over scheduled craziness. In fact nothing was scheduled during the timeframe we could possibly have had a Big Apple Greeter precisely because that would just be rude and I am aware that it is a privilege to be matched to a greeter. Our family was engaged, respectful and appreciative.

Again I apologize if you found the acronym discourteous.

cjar - I greatly enjoyed your trip report. It was as fun and interesting as any I've read.

Thanks so much for posting. In spite of what you said in the beginning you have written a very nice, informative and engaging trip report. By next week this time, I will be following in some of your footsteps. I am interested in your walk in Greenwich Village. You mention Galt Tech. I would appreciate it if you could give more info please!

www.galttech.com If you click on travel and and then scroll to New York they have a few different walks, Greenwich, Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights Promenade and
Chinatown. I liked their walk because it started and ended at the subway station,it had lots of interesting stops and there was a printable map to keep you headed In the right direction. We veered from it towards the end to grab an ice cream and lunch, in that order. Everyone has there priorities. If you like the walk too, I am happy to have helped. It feels nice to reciprocate.
