The Best Time To Visit
I am planning a trip to the Colorado Rockies next year for hiking and general sightseeing. I will be visiting RMNP, the San Juan Mountains, and the Colorado Springs area.
What time frames would allow me to enjoy reasonably warm weather and yet avoid peak Summer Season rates and crowds?
Thanks for your feedback.

If you can wait till September or October, I'd suggest then for fewer crowds, yet still warm enough for hiking. You won't get Fall colors till October, if that's important. You might want to research when Trail Ridge Road usually closes in RMNP, because it's a spectacular drive.
Otherwise, I'd say July, because most people seem to vacation in August, and May and June can still get snow in the mountains.

Just be aware that if you go too far into October you may find some closed passes (particularly Trail Ridge in RMNP). For that reason, I'd plan on the second half of Sept. Great color, most likely no snow except on the peaks.
