I am planning on going to the MET again maybe on the weds as I didn't get to finish the first floor on my last visit so it is great to know there is a tree there also.

If it's any consolation I stayed at the Pennsylvania a couple of years ago, before discovering TripAdvisor or any of the other naysayers.

It was perfectly alright Bit grubby in places. Certainly not a place I'd dash out and tell everyone else to stay at. But, arriving around midnight, they found my reservation, the room was clean if uninspiring (and utterly bugfree), the bill was ready when I checked out and the staff were reassuringly unintrusive. They never once told me to have a nice day, didn't do anything stupid andwere as pleasant as anyone would want staff in a city hotel to be.

My only complaint was it wasn't haunted by Glenn Miller's ghost. And they'd converted the phone number to 736 5000.

You've been given great advice...I'd just like to add some caution about traffic on the Wednesday and Sunday of your visit. If you are going to Woodbury Common on either of those days, you could face huge delays. Most northeastern children have a half day of school on that Wednesday. So the roads become PACKED that Wednesday afternoon (trust me, I know as we live in Boston with all of our relatives in NJ). Similarly, Sunday afternoon will also be PACKED on the roads. So if you chose to go to Woodbury on either of those days, go early and return late.

On Wednesday night head to the Upper West Side near the Natural History Museum (take the subway, either the 1 to 79th or B/C to 81st) and watch the balloons getting inflated for the big parade. It is crowded and it may be cold but it is a lot of fun to watch. There are some nice restaurants on the UWS - I like Ocean Grill or Isabella's which are both close to the staging area - you'll need a reservation.

Artisanal is offering a Thanksgiving dinner...I think the prix fixe meal was about $69pp, but please doublecheck! If your hotel is by Macy's, this should be within walking distance of it.
