Thanksgiving in Cape May, NJ?
We are thinking of heading down to Cape May for Thanksgiving.
Has anyone spent this holiday down there? How was it? Were things open (shops, restaurants?) Was it a good time to visit? (I know that a lot of touristy, seaside towns tend to close up in the winter months.)
Any accomodation recommendations?
Thanks!

In case you don't get better answers. To me, the answer is totally dependent upon the weather. As long as it's not cloudy & damp, a good time is guaranteed.I visit Ocean City, NJ every year for Thanksgiving and it varies from barefoot on the beach to winter jackets.Plenty of restaurants are still open but my (argueable) favorite is still the Cape May Lobster House which is open year round.Try the Chamber for Lodging along the beach and don't miss sunset at Sunset Beach. If bored, take Ocean Drive thru the quiet beach towns, walk Ocean City's boardwalk or visit the CM zoo.A passenger ride on the Ferry is also beautiful on a sunny day.

I may be alone in this, but I think that there is no place drearier than Cape May in late fall/winter. We were there a few years ago early in December and then got caught in a terrible snowstorm on the way home. We've never been back.

As a matter of fact, my husband and I spent last Thanksgiving in Cape May and loved it. I wish we were going there this year. The weather was absolutely beautiful there last year. We walked on the boardwalk with our jackets off and I was sweating. We stayed at the Virginia Hotel and had dinner in the Ebbitt Room. It was delicious. All the stores were open and we did some Christmas shopping on Friday. If you go have a great time.
