Alison:

It wasn't San Francisco...but

Last year we spent Thanksgiving weekend out-of-town in Los Angeles. Wednesday through Friday we got a fantastic hotel rate at the Ritz-Carlton. For Thanksgiving, they had three dining rooms set up for various levels of Thanksgiving dinner: a traditional-type turkey dinner, a buffet-type turkey dinner, and a price-fixe gourmet dinner. Other hotels in the area had offerings as well. Earlier in the day we were out and about, and though many places were closed, we found a few sidewalk cafes open for brunch. Also, nearly everything in Chinatown was open.

I hope my response wan't confusing...what I meant to add was that, San Francisco being more cosmopolitan, I would think the kind of experience we had at the Ritz would be even more common in SF. Plus the nicer hotels are more concentrated; perhaps you'll find a variety of choices.

Alison, give us more info because it really depends on what your looking for. Are you interested in a hotel and dinner? What type of budget are you on? How many travelers? Events or performances interested in?

We've got the hotel in S.F.booked for two of us and we've got a moderate budget.
Events wise we want a feel of America and maybe celebrate with a traditional dinner.
Hopes this helps you advise us

Kam, where the heck are you? Help this nice lady.

Well darn, I guess Thanksgiving means being with family or friends around a table appreciating good food and wine.

It sound like this may be your first visit to the USA.

You ever have a huge Thanksgiving turkey?
