Flamingo Hilton Rooms

My husband and I have booked a Deluxe room at the Flamingo Hilton in December for $80 per night on an upper floor facing the Strip. Room has sitting area. We could have had a Standard room for $40 facing who knows where or$60 facing the Strip. Do you think the $80 is worth it? Also, will weather be warm enough for the pool?

I've stayed there several times, and wouldn't advise paying that much for a room there. I like the hotel, but mainly at a rate of $39 a night. Best bet would be making a reservation as cheap as possible and then tipping the clerk at check-in. Also would help if you were a Hilton HHonors member or a member of the Flamingo Slot Club.

I agree with Bill's comments. $80 is more than you'll get in value.
December is tto cold for swimming (outdoors).

Stayed at the Flamingo in March. Sounds like you might have the same room view as ours. We tried the "tip thing", she showed no interest but gave us a great room--strip view, could see the Belagio water show, directly across from Ceasars. Great people watching from the massive window! The room might not have been the best in LV but it was very nice. Questions?? Please email me. Patti

After reading replies we have reconsidered the $80 room and decided to compromise with the standard room facing the Strip at $60 per night. After all, how much time is really spent in the room?

I would not try the tipping gimmick with a front desk person if I were you - it's not something that most people would do quite frankly. We've stayed at the Flamingo about 10 times over the years (last time in Dec. at Xmas.) and it's a nice hotel (OK not super luxury like some of the new ones but fine just the same). We've always gotten a very nice room (with no tip) facing the Strip (just ask for it). Sometimes it depends on the time of day you arrive what you get too. We've usually paid between $39 and $79 depending on the day of the week for a standard room. The rooms are fairly good sized, on our last visit we had king size bed, table, 2 chairs, dresser, t.v., nightstands, etc. There is also an iron & ironing board in the closets. The bathroom was not super luxury, i.e. Bellagio, but it served the purpose and everything worked just fine. The pool area is beautiful, hardly anyone was swimming however in Dec. but it depends on the weather of course. The best part about the Flamingo is it's location - smack in the middle of the Strip and surrounded by Bally's, Paris, Bellagio, Mirage, Venetian, Caeser's, etc. etc. It's VERY convenient which is why we like it. The buffet breakfast is nice - ask for a table alongside the waterfalls and watch the swans. The only other place we've eaten there is at Lindy's, their coffee shop. Very large portions. All in all I would rate it an acceptable place to stay without spending all your money on lodging. You will not be in the room too long anyway so why spend a fortune?

We like the Flamingo for the location, and because, in addition to being a pretty clever marketing move, it shows great chutzpah to put Bugsy Siegal's picture on the $5 chips.

We are fully comped regulars at the Flamingo Hilton. We always stay on the 28th ( top ) floor facing the strip. The rooms on the two top floors are larger than the others. Basically the rooms are the same except they are extended out by about 6-8 feet.

Normally the rooms on the two top floors are not available to the general public except during very slow times. They are reserved for comped players.

The first 3 weeks in December is the slowest period of the year in Las Vegas. Often, many properties will offer free room deals during this time. The prices you are quoting are pretty expensive, assuming that your stay will be between Dec. 1-23. I would try for a better deal than what you have.

The Flamingo Hilton has 2 pool areas. The main pool area with all of the slides and waterfalls will be much too cold as it is not heated. They do have a heated pool that will be open. It generally is pretty cool in December for swimming but there are exceptions some times.
