Thanks for all the Hawaii advice.....

We just came back from Hawaii and thanks to many of you....and your great trip reports...we had a wonderful trip....we followed so many of your suggestions....just to name a few....SUNSET at Haleakala volcano rather than sunrise...was spectacular and so much less crowded...and finished the night out with dessert at Haleakala General Store Restaurant which was awesome....We went to both Maui and Oahu and loved Oahu as much as Maui...SO much to do away from Waikiki. We stayed in Marriott Koolina and loved the resort and beaches....Sweet Potato Hill, North shore, Diamond Head at sunrise, Shrimp Hut near Turtle Bay Resort, Koolina golf... all were wonderful.....Maui Marriott Ocean Club was great despite the construction...as was Old Lahaina Luau and Road to Hana...

If you have any questions about Maui or Oahu...no not hesitate to ask...

Nancyl,
we arrive to two weeks, Is Old Lahanaia the best luaua, where is it? How did you organise a shuttle from the airport and how much did it cost ( was it per person or for your group)? Thanks for that.

John, I was hoping that some on here could tell me. Where have you been islandmom? I've missed your input on the Hawaii questions - do the shuttles run 24 hours, is it simply a case of walking out of the airport and there are shuttles there just waiting for passengers?

Old Lahaina Luau was very authentic...good food...plenty of drinks ...located in Lahaina and I reserved tickets online and paid for them when we got to Maui....

Sweet Potato Hill is a windy road that takes you to the top of a hill (Sweet Potato) and you can see all of Honolulu, Diamond Head, and a good part of Oahu at sunset...really beautiful...do a search on this site..that's how I learned about it...

Hum.... I wonder if I know that road by another name.

I'm in Oklahoma for 2 months because my grandmother just died.

I'm drawing a blank, but I don't believe the shuttles are that easy.
